New volunteer induction sessions are a hit!

19 Oct 2026

We've recently held a couple of volunteer induction sessions for volunteers - new and old - to come along and meet the team and get to know the charity and each other a bit better.

We've welcomed quite a few new volunteers to Friends of the Friarage over the last few months and this has been a great way for them to put faces to names, and for our shop and events volunteers who wouldn't normally work with each other get together and learn about how their time and support helps in our fundraising efforts to benefit the Friarage and the people of Hambleton & Richmondshire.

Many of our volunteers have been with us for a long time, some are ex-Friarage staff who didn't want to leave the hospital when they retired, and although they know the hospital well, they may not have realised or seen where recent funding has been used.

The sessions are fun and informative, with lots of tea, coffee and cake! Volunteers have the chance to ask plenty of questions and we encourage any of our new or longstanding volunteers to come along to the next one if they feel in need of a refresher of who's who and what we do.

The next one is likely to be held in January, after the busy Christmas period is over. If you would like to join the session, please get in touch with Anna Broadley to reserve your place.
